Learn about the Artist
Berges Alvarez's work demonstrates a profound concern for our extraordinary planet, particularly our shared "soundless landscapes" of oceans, open skies and mountains. Allegorically he conveys a beautiful frailty that reminds us of the wonders we all hold to share and protect.
His artworks softly speak about our contemporary techno-digital environment while at the same time presents images in their natural balance. This social work reflects a natural world that allows present-day to show in subtle ways and in doing so constructs communication between the plastic recycled modernism we've created and the delicate yet silently present, natural consciousness that surrounds.
Abundant, dramatic with color and in silent melancholy Berges Alvarez's symbolic practicality in the use of recycled man-made reflective materials to create these panoramas fascinates and involves the beauty that is found within the frayed edges and torn materials that seem to have been forever forgotten in our modern day throwaway society.

"The devil is in the details"
Filters, lights, plastics, cameras, action as are x-ray phantoms and rejected film along with reflective materials all utilized to create these beautiful images. Contained within a small instant, while everyone turns away for a moment from the everyday beauty that is concealed before us...I appreciate, discover and capture these fractions of reflected particles in a single photograph.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
in the smallest of spaces with just the right lighting, shade, color and simple scale. Images can never be replicated in quite the same manner, not able to be reproduced... the certain look or combination of images and color in quite the same way. One of a kind photographic images on acrylic and linen canvas.

Gustav Klimt's allegorical, symbolic paintings are thought of as soft, polished masterpieces of vibrant golds, but here is the reflective Attersee Lake in Austria, light skimming its surfaces, peaceful, cool and inviting much like the transitory passing of time and what it holds in store...

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
2013 “In Closely Listen, Bergés Alvarez proves that he has mastered the poet’s tools of trade. His is a unique voice, he has a lightness of touch, and a certain a Taoist wisdom. When reading his poetry, it is best to sit back and taste the words, say them aloud, and let a poem such as Most Moons resonate; the poem makes the sound of a spoon on a crystal glass, spare and elegant. The title poem urges you to “stir your words, close my eyes, and hold my breath”. Do this, and in the resulting quiet, the reader will hear a rare song, the voice of Bergés Alvarez in Closely Listen. “
Kristin Roedell, Poet, http://cicadas-sing.ucoz.com
2012 “In his poetry of longing Bergés Alvarez journeys through dense landscapes of the heart. His expressionist visions are driven by primal human needs and entanglements that pulse and grasp, beat and flow in passionate rhythm.”
J. & J. Digby, Feral Press www.pp-pub.com
2011 “By day, Bergés Alvarez oversees many of the inner workings of a radiology organization. But beneath the “dark night sky” he dreams in poetic stanzas. Deep in his heart is a yearning to reflect and grow and come to understand the greater meanings of our everyday lives.”
